The Montblanc Patron of Art Edition 2020 honors the legendary Aztec ruler Moctezuma I, who ruled from 1440 to 1469 and ushered in the Golden Age of the Aztecs. Under his rule, the capital Tenochtitlán (today's Mexico City) flourished and became the cultural and political center of the Aztec Empire.

✦ Overall design inspired by the atlatl – a traditional Aztec spear thrower.
✦ Champagne-colored gold-plated fittings – a reminiscence of the splendor of the Aztec high culture.
✦ Body in petrol blue & carmine red - inspired by the colors of the royal cloak of Moctezuma I.
✦ Hammered cone - based on a ritual Aztec knife with obsidian blades.
✦ Hieroglyphs on the cap - symbolize the years of Moctezuma I's reign.
