\nWith the Great Characters Editions, issued for the first time in 2009, Montblanc honors the great figures from history with their groundbreaking work. Handmade by master craftsmen and issued in a strictly limited edition,
\nthese exclusive writing instruments are a fascinating tribute to the legacies they left behind.<\/p>\n

The Great Characters Edition Andy Warhol is paying tribute to one of the major proponents of the Pop Art Movement. With his striking works, Andy Warhol broke down the barriers between \u2018high art\u2019 and \u2018commercial art\u2019 and made a sensation turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. The design of the Writing Instruments is inspired by Andy Warhol\u2019s Artwork *Flowers 1964*. The Rollerball is made of silver-grey lacquer with platinum-
\n-plated flower motif and 4 flower motifs in a 2 by 2 formation are worked into the stainless steel cap and filled with lacquer in 13 different colors. The grey and silver color code of this edition bears a reference to the *Silver Factory*, his studio in NYC, with the clip picking up Warhol\u2019s silkscreen printing squeegee. The bar code on the cone refers to Andy Warhol\u2019s fascination with consumerism and commercial art as well as to the POP ART movement. One of his famous quotes is engraved on the cap top:
